STOP CANCER FOUNDATION
Fight Cancer Foundation celebrates International Women's Day
On International Women’s Day, we want to celebrate the incredible women who make a difference in the fight against cancer.
Meet four dedicated women who contribute their talents and energy to Fight Cancer Foundation.
Our President and Chairman, Leonie Walsh, leads the strategic direction of Fight Cancer Foundation. She was appointed the inaugural role of Victorian Lead Scientist in 2013. As part of her work Leonie advocates for women in science through a Victorian Government initiative to enhance the state’s research capabilities by supporting women to pursue and stay in science careers. Leonie is also a non-Executive Director on the board of the National Bone Marrow Donor Registry.
BMDI Rotary House Relief Manager Kerry Johns is talented, committed and tireless and has been with Fight Cancer Foundation since it began in 1989. Kerry has dedicated herself to the fight against cancer as a volunteer, ambassador, fundraiser, employee, house manager, counsellor and Red Ball committee member. She also started Footy Colours Day, which is now our largest national campaign with over 420,000 people participating in 2015.
Our Recycle Shop Managers Barb Speldewinde and Moya Hughes should be enjoying a well-earned retirement, but selflessly give their time to run our Geelong and Drysdale shops. Both are fascinating women with a wealth of skills, experience and passion and we’re fortunate they choose to support Fight Cancer Foundation.
We celebrate all the inspiring women who support the fight against cancer – and wish you all a Happy International Women’s Day.
